General Description
Filter Support for use with vacuum filtration flask to support the filter and filter funnel – for water quality testing programmes.
Technical specifications :-
Filter Support to be placed upon a silicone rubber Gasket placed on top of the Buchner Flask with side-arm tabulation, to support for the 47mm diameter filter paper and funnel – employed in the water quality testing programmes.
The filter support will interface with a standard filter funnel (e.g. standard Millipore filter funnel), and an ‘off the shelf’ side-arm flask (Buchner or similar filtration flask type), with a vacuum pump to complete the set up.
The filter support is a simple plastic component that will enable drinking water testing using the membrane filtration method to be performed with standard laboratory glassware’s etc.
The supported filter on top of the filter support unit will be a standard dimension 47mm diameter (0.45 micron) paper filter.
The filter component is a reusable component, which can be sterilised by ethanol wipe between uses.
The filter support is manufactured by injection moulding (manufacturer will relate to injection moulding report for details.
The expected maximum production volume is approximately 20,000 units per tool.

The outer diameter of the plastic filter support is 49.8 mm +/- 0.1mm (this dimension is critical to the function as it determines the seal to the filter funnel.
The maximum diameter at the two ear flaps level is 79.8mm.
The total height of the unit is 15.2mm.
